Happy April Everyone!

While we’re “officially” moving into autumn here in Peru, my physiology hasn’t quite caught up with living in the southern hemisphere and I’ll forever associate the month of april with the spring season. To further the confusion, and with the continued gift of rain, the Valley is impossibly green and carries a deep sense of spring-like renewal.

We’ve had such beautiful groups move through the space over the past month, and are looking forward to many more as the year unfolds. As whimsical as it may sound, the gardens truly seem to come alive when they’re shared!

Pascua in Peru

Pascua (Easter) in Peru arrives not only with spring, but with rain, green hills, and a quiet sense of renewal in the land.

Across the Sacred Valley, Semana Santa (the Holy Week) is marked by processions, prayer, and gathering — traditions that feel both deeply rooted and layered with history.

Many of the churches where these ceremonies take place (like the one in the photo above, located in nearby Yucay) were built during the Spanish colonial period, often directly on top of Incan temples and sacred sites. What began as a strategy of domination also became something more complex over time — a blending of traditions, where indigenous relationships to land and spirit continue to live beneath the surface.
